LESLEY
GORE burst onto the music scene when she was a junior in high
school with the hit song "It's My Party". That was 1963.
Since then she has had over two dozen chart hits and sold over
sixty million albums worldwide. With hits like "Judy's Turn
To Cry", "She's a Fool", "Maybe I Know",
"I Struck A Match", "Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows",
and the classic smash "You Don't Own Me", Lesley helped
create the soundtrack of the Sixties. Lesley still sings those
songs, but it's no exercise in nostalgia. Having expanded her
career into writing music and lyrics in addition to her concert
performing. Lesley is celebrating the best years of her life and
career.
Lesley has
written songs for Dusty Springfield, Patti Austin, Bernadette
Peters and Irene Cara. She was nominated for an Academy Award
for the hit song "Out Here on My Own", which is one
of the songs she wrote for the motion picture Fame.
Brooklyn-born
Lesley was discovered by Quincy Jones and signed to Mercury Records.
With Jones' expert guidance, Lesley learned the fundamentals of
writing, arranging, and recording music. Lesley learned the techniques
of performing when she appeared on such live shows as The Ed Sullivan
Show. Her fans fondly remember when Lesley played herself on the
final episode of The Donna Reed Show, and played Catwoman's sidekick
on Batman.
