HERB
REED organized the original PLATTERS, and sang on all their recordings
including: "Only You", "The Magic Touch",
"The Great Pretender", "My Prayer", "Smoke
Gets In Your Eyes" , "Twilight Time", and "Harbor
Lights", and many more.
HERB REED
AND THE PLATTERS have sold over eighty million records. HERB REED
AND THE PLATTERS have also preformed in ninety one countries,
and have received over two hundred and thirty awards from all
over the world. Of all the awards he has received, there is one
he cherishes above all, while on tour in Italy, he and THE PLATTERS
had a private audience with his Holiness The Pope, and was given
a medal from the Pope for charitable concerts throughout Italy.
HERB REED
AND THE PLATTERS have made twenty seven movies, some you may remember:
"Rock Around The Clock", "The Girl Can't Help It"
(Jane Mansfield), "Europe By Night", "Girls Town"
(Paul Anaka), "Carnival Rock", and twenty two more in
Mexico, Spain, Japan, Paris, Italy, and Israel.
Since HERB
REED organized THE PLATTERS, he has never stopped selling out
throughout all these years, and he still sells out wherever he
goes. He is a happy man and I'm sure you can guess why!
The Platters
were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. They
have also been inducted into The United Group Harmony Association
Hall of Fame in 1994.
